Class Description

The project focuses on the development and implementation of a learning concept for the field of machine learning as part of the master course in computer science. In addition to the currently existing academic training in the fields of artificial intelligence, pattern recognition, computer vision, intelligent systems and optimization, the range of courses will be extended by a foundational course, namely “Methods of Machine Learning”, and by four courses for specialization, namely “Natural Language Processing and Information Retrieval”, “Robotics & Robot Vision”, “Smart Living & Environments” and “Data Science”.

The theoretical, methodological and practical education involve the enhancement of skills in the fields of multivariate statistics, deep learning as well as natural language processing to enable the students to independently analyze and evaluate problems as well as select and adapt appropriate algorithms and software solutions for the present case of application.

The project was initialized by Prof. Carsten Gips and Prof. Matthias König, has a duration of two years and is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
