Class Description

Due to the time-intensive development process of embedded systems, the project partner Tinkerforge works on the development of a modular system to accelerate and simplify the development of embedded systems. One goal of the project is the realization of a “Rapid Embedded Development Brick” (RED Brick) with a size of 4 times 4 cm. This hardware component is part of the modular system which also comprises different sensors and actuators. New systems and applications can be designed by simply connecting different modules and by programming the hardware, e.g. a motor controller for a blind. In combination with a luminosity sensor, an automatic controller can be realized. The application focus is set on home automation and image processing for attached cameras.
In this project, the research team from the company and the University of Applied Sciences Bielefeld develop the “RED Brick” and software components for simplified programming of the hardware. The “RED Brick” has a high computing power which opens the modular system for a wide range of new applications.
